Garden of corpses

This week, police officers have found dead bodies of two teenage girls buried in a garden of Margate house, Kent. Vicky Hamilton, recovered on Monday and Dinah McNicol, found on Friday, went both missing in 1991. They were fifteen and eighteen years old.

The main suspect is Peter Tobin, a 61 year old man who lived in this house in 1991. The current house owner and her partner cannot believe what is happening. For them, it is a nightmare. They had been living in their “happy family home” for 12 years, unaware of the tragedy and now everything is upside-down. They sent all their sympathy to the victims’ families, and have been trying to help the police officers in their research.
The parents of the victims are really affected. After fifteen years searching for the truth, all their hopes have been smashed.

Now the police officers are continuing to search for possible further bodies, and are looking for more information from neighbours. The house is going to be excavated, and the top soil will be replaced to search within the entire garden.

The affair may re-activate the examination of other murder cases.
After the rapt of Madeleine McCann, a new dramatic story comes as a shock to the British.

Des cadavres au fond du jardin

Cette semaine, les policiers du Kent ont découvert les cadavres de deux adolescentes dans le jardin d’une maison de Margate, dans le Kent. Vicky Hamilton, trouvée lundi, et Dinah McNicol, trouvée vendredi, avaient toutes deux disparues depuis 1991. Elles étaient à cette époque âgées de quinze et dix-huit ans.

Le principal suspect est Peter Tobin, un homme de 61 ans, qui vivait dans cette maison, l’année des disparitions. La propriétaire actuelle et son compagnon déclarent ne pas réaliser ce qui leur arrive. C’est un véritable cauchemar. Ils vivaient dans cette paisible maison familiale depuis douze ans, sans se douter du tragique secret enterré en dessous d’eux. Ils ont exprimé toute leur sympathie aux familles des deux victimes, et essaient d’aider les policiers dans leurs recherches, en donnant des renseignements sur certains changements effectués dans la maison depuis leur arrivée.
Les proches des victimes sont désespérés. Après quinze ans d’attente de la vérité, tous leurs espoirs ont été anéantis.

Les policiers continuent actuellement les fouilles à la recherche d’éventuels autres cadavres et essaient de trouver de nouvelles informations auprès des voisins.
Ils prévoient d’excaver la maison et de ratisser entièrement le reste du jardin.
Cette terrible affaire devrait provoquer la réouverture d’enquêtes sur des cas similaires.
