POPULAR LAWYER STABBED

At the age of 17 Ewan Ireland stabbed to death the popular lawyer Peter Duncan – aged 56 - with a screwdriver at the entrance to Newcastle's Eldon Square shopping center on 14 August.

The lawyer was crossing the shopping center to get home and accidently Ewan and he brushed past each other, at this moment the teenager pulled out his weapon and stabbed once Duncan in his heart.

Ireland admitted his murder during a previous hearing. The sentence pronounced on Tuesday at Newcastle Crown Court condemned the young man at minimum 15 years of jail.

 M. Duncan managed to walk a few meters before falling down close to Gregg’s outlet.

Duncan’s family also added: “Peter was a kind and caring man who was always first to help others".

 Police said the attack was unprovoked and described it as a "chance encounter". After Ireland pleaded guilty, it emerged that he was a serial offender who continued to commit violent crimes despite being on bail.

L’avocat traversait le centre commercial pour rentrer chez lui en bousculant accidentellement le jeune homme. A ce moment Ewan a sorti son arme et frappé une seule fois Duncan au niveau du cœur.

Ireland a reconnu son meurtre pendant une audience. La sentence a été prononcée mardi à la cour de la Couronne de Newcastle et le jeune homme a été condamné à une peine minimum de 15 ans de prison.

M. Duncan a réussi à se trainer quelques mètres avant de s’écrouler au sol devant " Greggs outlet ".

La famille de Duncan a déclaré : ‘’ Peter était un homme gentil et attentionné qui était toujours le premier à aider les autres’’.

La police a ajouté que l’accident était imprévu et le décrit comme ‘’une rencontre fortuite’’. Ireland s’est révélé être un délinquant en série, continuant à commettre des crimes violentes après sa libération sous caution.

Corbyn said no apologies

The leader of the Labour Party declined to apologise to the British Jewish community

For more than three years now, the Labour Party has been accused of antisemitism. During a BBC interview, Andrew Neil asked Jeremy Corbyn four times if he wanted to apologise. The Labour leader declined. He answered “I don’t want anyone to be feeling insecure in our society and our government will protect every community against the abuse they receive.”

He said “What I'll say is that I am determined that our society is safe for people of all faiths.”

Finally, Mr. Corbyn declared that racism is a total “poison” and said “I want to work with every community, to make sure it's eliminated. That is what my whole life has been about".

A prominent orthodox rabbi, Rabbi Mirvis, defined Mr Corbyn’s words like that the Labour investigated every single case of alleged antisemitism as a “mendacions fiction".

Corbyn replied that he was wrong because he should bring evidences to show that this is mendacious.

He repeated that he developed a stronger way to deal with allegations and sanctioned and fired members of his party who were accused to have made antisemitic remarks.

Despite that, on BBC Wales, in an election TV debate Ms. Griffith, a senior member of Mr Corbyn's team declared that the antisemitism claims of some of the party were a shame for them and that they needed absolutely to put it right".

She also said “We have not been as effective as we should have been in dealing with this problem.”

Finalement, Mr. Corbyn a déclaré que le racisme était un « poison absolu » et a ajouté : « Je veux travailler avec toutes les communautés, pour être sûr qu’il soit éliminé. C'est sur ça que toute ma vie a été fondée ».

Un grand rabbin orthodoxe, Rabbi Mirvis, réagissant aux propos de Mr Corbyn qui avait dit que son parti aurait enquêté sur chaque cas de prétendu antisémitisme les a qualifiés de « fiction mensongère ».

Corbyn a répondu qu'il avait tort car il devrait apporter des preuves.

Il a répété qu'il avait développé un meilleur moyen de régler ce genre d’accusations en sanctionnant et en excluant des membres de son parti accusés d'avoir fait des remarques antisémites.

Malgré cela, sur BBC Wales, dans un débat télévisé sur les élections, Ms Griffith, un membre important de l’équipe de Corbyn a déclaré que les propos antisémites de la part de certains membres du parti étaient une honte pour eux et qu’ils devaient absolument remettre ça en ordre ».

Elle a ajouté : « Nous n'avons pas été aussi efficaces que ce que nous aurions du l’être pour régler ce problème.

Mothercare risks deleting 2500 jobs

The British childcare store chain Mothercare and its 79 stores have not been able to make enough profit. The company has a big problem and failed to find a buyer.

It said the stores will operate normally for the moment.

According to analysts, Mothercare took time to adapt to the competition and the transition to online sales.

The company announced that they will call in administrators to the firm's business, at the risk of cutting 2500 Jobs.

Mothercare has already gone through a rescue deal, known as a company voluntary arrangement (CVA). It's an insolvency process that help a business to find a deal with its bank to pay off part or all of its debts. The process forced the company to close 55 stores.

La compagnie a annoncé qu'elle ferait appel à des administrateurs de tutelle et risque de devoir supprimer 2500 emplois.

Mothercare est déjà passé par un plan de sauvetage, baptisé « accord volontaire d’entreprise » ( CVA ). C'est un processus d’insolvabilité qui aide une entreprise à trouver un arrangement avec sa banque pour payer une partie ou la totalité de ses dettes. Le processus avait obligé la compagnie à fermer 55 magasins.

                                                   Thomas Cook to refund 60,000 claims

                          

           60,000 customers who had booked holidays with Thomas Cook company submitted a refund after getting multiples claims.

       The company said that the website had no problems but the customers complained that they couldn’t submit the claim and they kept receiving error messages

        The CAA blamed "unprecedented demand" and urged users to try later. In total, the aviation regulator has to refund some 360,000 customers.

         The claimants had to wait 60 days to get their money back, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a tweet     "We would like to thank Thomas Cook customers for their patience during the peak claims period earlier today."

       Several people told the BBC that they tried to complain but their requests were left without follow-up or that they didn’t had any responses like Sue Nicolson who said she had tried to submit her claim a dozen times.  "The 60-day timescale for refunds only starts once they have received the claim, so how much longer are we going to have to wait for the thousands of pounds we are owed for a holiday we were supposed to depart for this Friday?" she said.

      The CAA said people who had paid by direct debit would get their money back by October 14.

    Anyone who bought a package holiday with Thomas Cook will be covered by the Air Travel Organiser's Licence scheme (Atol). Customers would have received an Atol certificate when they booked. This means the cost of any holiday booked with the collapsed firm will be refunded.

The CAA put in place a web site for refunding costumers

    The few remaining passengers who did not return on a CAA-organised flight will have to make their own plans, even though they are covered by ATOL 

     CAA chair Dame Deirdre Hutton said she was "deeply relieved" that "Operation Matterhorn", the two-week operation to return 150,000 passengers to the UK after the package tour company that bankrupted last month, was over.

   Staff members work 24 hours a day to help and have been left unpaid since September and have to apply for their salary.
         About 9,000 staff in the UK were left jobless when the business failed to secure a last-ditch rescue deal.            

  The travel firm collapsed in the early hours of 23 September, after failing to obtain rescue funds from its banks. 
            An inquiry has been launched by the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee, with MPs focusing on the directors' stewardship of the company

                        La compagnie Thomas Cook a dû rembourser 60.000 personnes suite à de nombreuses réclamations faites sur le site internet de la compagnie qui affichait des messages d’erreur lors d’une réclamation. Après 60 jour avec l’aide de ATOL (Air Travel Organiser's Licence) le CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) a créé un site pour rembourser les clients mais beaucoup d’entre eux avancent que le site ne marche pas et qu’ils ne parviennent pas à aller au bout des démarches.

                          Les employés travaillent 24h sur 24 pour aider les clients mais ils ne sont plus payés depuis septembre. A peu près 9.000 salariés ont perdu leur emploi par la suite de la faillite de la compagnie le 23 septembre suite à des dettes trop importantes.

The leader of the Welsh Conservative Party group in the national assembly for Wales, Paul Davies, said that it was clear that people in Wales wanted Brexit completed.

  During the Tory conference in Manchester, he supported the prime minister Boris Johnson when he called to get Brexit done.
 
Before the conference he said “We must get Brexit done so that we can focus on the issues that actually matter to people.”

  The United Kingdom is supposed to leave the European Union on 31 October 2019.
 
 Paul Davies said “As a party, we have made it absolutely clear that we want to respect the outcome of the referendum result and that's why the prime minister has made it clear that we will be leaving the European Union on October 31.”

   "The political parties are trying to throw mud at us at every opportunity to frustrate the process of Brexit, but the people of Wales have made the decision to leave the European Union and we must now get on and do that." 

  Mr. Johnson said that he would prefer an arrangement however would be set up to leave without one.

  Nevertheless, a law was voted earlier in September aimed at blocking a no-deal exit.
 
 It implies Mr. Johnson and his minority government will have until October 19 to either pass an arrangement in Parliament or get MPs to endorse a no-accord Brexit.

 Mr. Johnson a dit qu'il préférerait un arrangement pourtant il serait prêt à partir de l'UE sans.
 
 Néanmoins, une loi a été votée plus tôt en septembre visant à bloquer une sortie sans accord.

  Cela signifie que Mr. Johnson et son gouvernement minoritaire auront jusqu'au 19 octobre pour soit obtenir l’accord du parlement ou les députés seront obligés d’approuver un Brexit sans accord.

On Saturday 9 March, the government was the subject of strong criticism in the United Kingdom after the announcement of the death of a baby in Syria.

The baby died of pneumonia, according to a medical certificate. He was less than three weeks old.

British newspaper Daily Mail forced to correct report on Saint-Denis

The British newspaper had presented the commune of Seine-Saint-Denis as a "parallel state where allegiance to Islam comes before fidelity to France" and where "350 jihadists" live. A new corrective article was published last Wednesday.

Published on July 28, 2018, this 2,000-word article was entitled "Powder Keg Paris" and was written by Andrew Malone. The text described the Seine-Saint-Denis sub-prefecture as "a state within the state, with its own religious rules and courts", and where "speaking Arabic is more useful than French".

 The article provoked an outcry. The Muslim Council of Britain, an association of British Muslims, had filed a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organization, Marwan Muhammad, former director of the Collective against islamophobia in France, had strongly denounced the inconsistencies and imprecisions of this article.

As result of these many confusions, the publication of a lot of unjustified information. The Daily Mail newspaper apologized in its corrective article.  

The Muslim Council of Britain: is a national umbrella body with over 500 mosques, educational and charitable associations affiliated to it. It includes national, regional, local, and specialist Muslim organizations and institutions from different ethnic and sectarian backgrounds within British Islamic society.

Suite à ces nombreuses confusions, la publication de nombreuses informations non justifiées ou fausses, le Daily Mail a présenté des excuses dans un article rectifié.

Lady of the Hills finally identified

According to a thorough investigation by the police, a missing woman known as "The Lady of the Hills" in 2004 was identified by the police through DNA tests with members of her family in Thailand.

The North Yorkshire police that the woman who was discovered near Pen-y-Gent, was Lamduan Armitage, a woman, according to the police, aged 25 to 35 years and originally from Southeast Asia.

She reportedly moved to the United Kingdom in 1991 with her husband, David Armitage after living in Portsmouth, Rugby, and Preston between 1991 and 2004 and then married in Thailand.

Her husband reportedly stated that he had nothing to do with his wife's death.

The woman was reportedly found by walkers in a stream 2 km from the nearest road half naked, wearing only jeans, socks and a wedding ring, on 20 September 2004.

Mr. Harland, a police officer, said she was killed and moved to Ribblesdale in an SUV.

Accusé du meurtre de sa femme enceinte il y a 20 ans

Andrew Griggs, 56 ans, est aujourd'hui accusé du meurtre de sa femme enceinte Debbie Griggs, décédée il y a 20 ans.

La mère de 34 ans avait trois enfants et était enceinte de son quatrième lorsqu’elle a disparu de Walmer dans le Deal le soir du 5 mai 1999. Sa voiture a été retrouvée une semaine plus tard.

Le détective Paul Fotheringham a déclaré : « Malgré des recherches approfondies et des demandes de renseignements , les détectives n’ont pas pu trouver Debbie . »

Monsieur Griggs, de Ringwood Road, St Leonards, Dorset, a été placé en détention provisoire et comparaîtra devant la Cour de la Couronne de Maidstone le 14 mars.

Andrew Griggs, 56, is today accused of murdering his pregnant wife Debbie Griggs, who died 20 years ago.

The 34 years mother had three kids and was pregnant of his fourth child when she went missing from Walmer in Deal on the evening of 5 May 1999. Her car was found a week later.

Det Paul Fotheringham said: "Despite extensive searches and appeals for information detectives were unable to locate Debbie."

Mr Griggs, of Ringwood Road, St Leonards, Dorset, has been remand in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 14 March.

More fear than harm

Two days after his accident, Prince Philip has been spotted driving without his seatbelt in his car whereas it is mandatory on public roads.

The prince emerged uninjured after his car accident last Thursday, near the Royal Estate of Sandringham.


The powerful Land Rover that the prince was driving, overturned after pulling out of an alley of the Royal Estate and collided with a Kia. Inside the Kia there were two women 28 and 45 years old and a nine-month old baby.


In accordance with the law, the drivers have been submitted to a breath test* whose results provednegative.


The passengers in the Kia, who were quite devastated didn’t receive any apology from Prince Philip.


The case sparked a strong emotion in a country very attached to the royal family.


The police have decided to talk to him.


A lot of medias think that a person who’s older than 70 years old shouldn’t drive alone.

Six-month verdict for computer fraud

A mechanic called Mustafa Kasim stood accused of having stolen the personal data of the customers of his former boss in London, on November 12, 2018.

Mustafa Kasim had stolen the personal data of customers who had suffered an accident. He used the access data of a former working colleague to steal the estimations of the costs of repair and the names, telephone numbers, details of vehicles and information about the accident.

Generally, for this kind of this offense, the Data Protection Act does not lead to detention but the judge decided to apply the Computer Misuse Act.

Eventually, Mustafa Kasim having pleaded guilty, was condemned to 6 months in prison by the Wood Green Crown Court in London.

On its web site the magazine Computers and Law declared that other pursuits of this kind will take place.

Six mois de prison pour vol de données

12 novembre 2018- A Londres, un mécanicien, Mustafa Kasim, est accusé d’avoir volé des données personnelles des clients de son ancien patron.

En utilisant les codes d’accès d’un ancien collègue de travail, il aurait dérobé les données de clients victimes d’un accident comme les estimations des coûts de réparation, les noms, les numéros de téléphone, les informations sur les véhicules et l’accident.

Généralement pour ce genre de délit, la loi sur la protection des données ne mène pas à l’emprisonnement mais le juge a décidé d’appliquer lesdispositions concernant l’utilisation abusive de données privées. 

Au final, Mustafa Kasim ayant plaidé coupable, a été condamné à 6 mois de prison devant le tribunal de la Couronne de Wood Green, à Londres.

L'éditeur du site Web du magazine Computers & Law a déclaré que d'autres poursuites de ce genre auraient lieu.
