This is an amazing burglary that took place at the Hatton Garden Safety
Deposit, in Hatton Garden. This area of London jewellers was visited by
burglars during the Easter weekend.
The burglars dug a hole in the roof, then they managed to go down
through the left cage using what is called “abseiling” then they found their
way to access the safe deposit room. They had the chance to work throughout the
weekend without being interrupted. The police estimated that 72 of the 600 safes
in which jewellers stored their goods and money had been opened and properties
stolen.
The amount of the raid was valued at 200 million pounds, which means about
275 million euro. This represents four times the amount stolen during the
biggest raid done so far in the UK, and would make it "the heist of
the century."
An alarm had been triggered on Friday, but was ignored by the security
guard, who didn’t see anything abnormal.

These thefts are always spectacular, especially when the security system
deployed to protect these establishments is very sophisticated. You would
think yourself in a
Hollywood movie.

Braquage à l’anglaise
C’est un
cambriolage impressionnant qui s’est déroulé dans l'établissement de Hatton
Garden Safety Deposit, installé à Hatton Garden. Le quartier des joailliers
londoniens, a été visité par des cambrioleurs lors du week-end de Pâques.
Les
cambrioleurs auraient trouvé un moyen de faire un trou dans le toit, puis ont
réussi à descendre par une cage d'ascenseur en rappel et ont pu trouver l’accès
à la salle des coffres. Ils ont eu la chance d’œuvrer durant tout le weekend
sans être interrompus. La police estime que 72 des 600 coffres-forts dans
lesquelles les joailliers entreposent leurs marchandises et leur argent ont été
ouverts, et les biens qui s’y trouvaient, dérobés.
Le
montant du braquage est évalué à 200 millions de livres, soit environ 275
millions d’euros. Ce chiffre représente quatre fois la somme volée lors du
plus gros braquage réalisé jusqu’à maintenant au Royaume-Uni, et ferait donc de
ce vol « le casse du
siècle".
Une alarme se
serait déclenchée vendredi (jour férié au Royaume-Uni), mais aurait été ignoré
par un agent de sécurité, ce dernier n'ayant rien vu d'anormal.
Grand angle
Ce type
d’action est toujours spectaculaire, d’autant plus que le système de sécurité
déployé pour protéger ces lieux est très sophistiqué. On pourrait se croire
dans un film hollywoodien.
