UK’s youngest College student

Esther Okade is a gifted British girl. Barely 10 years old, she got admitted in Open University in Mathematics.

From the town of Walsall, in the West Midlands County, Esther is like few other girls. She has a passion for mathematics and will be admitted to take math license at the Open University. The most impressive thing about her is she is only 10 years old.

"Since the age of 7, Esther has wanted to go to college," revealed her mother, who is also a mathematician. According to her, her daughter has already specific plans for her future and intends to create her own bank to become a multi millionaire. Her little brother Isaiah who is currently six year old, intends to follow in the footsteps of his sister.

The girl had applied last August at the university and was accepted in December after passing a math exam. The university will not regret their choice; Esther is one of the best students, getting 100% at some of her tests. The girl seems confident to get her BA in Mathematics with honours and go on to a doctorate.

Although exceptional, the case of Esther is not unique. Ruth Lawrence from Brighton, had passed the examination of Oxford in 1981 at the age of 10. She passed all tests and graduated with a license in maths after three years at this prestigious university. While in France, Arthur Ramiandrisoa was the youngest graduate in 1989 when he was just 11 years old.

Nevertheless, there are lingering questions concerning the psychology of these wunderkinds such as whether they feel comfortable with their classmates or whether it is desirable to create an adult environment especially for them? Which means considering them as if they were already adults?

Esther, 10 ans et déjà en licence de mathématiques

Esther Okade est une petite fille britannique surdouée. A peine âgée de 10 ans, elle vient d’être admise à l’Open University en licence de mathématiques.

Originaire de la ville de Walsall dans le comté des West Midlands, Esther est presque une fille comme les autres à quelques détails près. Passionnée de mathématiques, elle sera admise en licence de maths à l’Open University. Le plus impressionnant dans cette histoire est qu’elle a à peine 10 ans et compte déjà obtenir des diplômes.

"Depuis l’âge de 7 ans, Esther veut aller à l’université", confie sa mère qui est aussi mathématicienne. Selon cette dernière, sa fille a desprojets vraiment précis pour l’avenir et entend créer sa propre banque pour devenir multi millionnaire. Son petit frère Isaiah qui a actuellement six ans entend suivre les traces de sa sœur.

La jeune fille avait postulé en août dernier à l’université et a été acceptée en décembre après un examen de mathématiques. L’université ne regrettera pas son choix, Esther est l’une de ses meilleures élèves en obtenant souvent 100% à certains tests. La jeune fille semblerait bien partie pour obtenir sa licence en mathématiques avec mention et continuer vers un doctorat.

Quoiqu’exceptionnel, le cas d’Esther est loin d’être unique. Se pose tout de même la question de la prise en charge de ces enfants et de leur adaptation en milieu étudiant,  est-ce donc une bonne solution de créer un environnement d’adulte spécialement pour eux ? Ce qui signifie les considérer comme s’ils étaient déjà adultes?

Arsenal led 0-1 at the break but Tottenham could count on a double by Harry Kane to win the north-east London derby, the 175^th on Saturday (2-1). Spurs won a third consecutive win at White Hart Line and joined Manchester United with 43 points in the third place, while the Gunners stop three consecutive wins. Spurs, who ended Saturday third place in the Premier League table, have now taken 22 points from a possible 27. Arsenal could leave the Big Four if Southampton wins their game against Queens Park Rangers.

The Match:

This 175th derby of the north-east London was explosive, intense, enthralling and packed with suspense. Tottenham did not steal this victory, as the Spurs dominated the debate and Arsenal leading at the break looked like a small heist as Tottenham had 23 shots for 7 on target and only 8 shots for 3 on target for Arsenal. But with a movement led by its attacking trident, initiated by Danny Welbeck, relayed by Olivier Giroud whose shot was completely missed but became a pass for near-offside Mesut Özil, the Gunners had quickly taken the lead on the scoreboard (0-1, 11th). It was Özil’s third goal in three games since returning to competition. 

It was to remain the only occasion of Arsenal at the first half-time. Because after this goal Arsenal suffered the onslaught of Spurs in the heated atmosphere of White Hart Line.

Yet, Harry Kane’s partners long struggled against David Ospina the goalkeeper. Despite a painful left shoulder early in the game, Ospina multiplied saves (5th, 14th, and 30th) in the first half.

Ospina had been unbeaten for three and a half games, but his invincibility ended a few minutes after restart. Full of opportunism, Kane took advantage of a ball the former Nice goalkeeper had not caught to equalize (1-1, 56th). 

This goal has not changed the physiognomy of the game; Tottenham was very motivated to take the advantage. Apart from a great wound Welbeck strikes forcing Hugo Lloris to a beautiful parade (61th), Arsenal has declined steadily minute by minute. Ospina further delayed maturity (59th), a double parade with a strike of Bentaleb at 63th and a one one against Kane at 64th, to give in on a whim signed master Kane, perfectly served by Nacer Chadli (2-1, 86th . The Spurs went for this ninth success in eleven games with guts. They just played the derby right. Not like Arsenal.

The man of the match: HARRY KANE

Harry Kane will remember for a long time his first derby of north-east London. A pure product of Tottenham's training center, the attacker cracked a double (56th, 86th) to make up for the goal of Mesut Özil (11th).

Harry Kane, 21 years old, scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season, four in the last two games and 22 goals in all competitions.

Of course the national team coach Roy Hodgson was at White Hart Line and saw Kane’s performance. His first goal was an opportunist strike, arriving at the back post to finish after Dembele's corner. His second was beautiful pass of Nacer Chadli and a headed finish of the highest quality as he rose above the Gunners’ defense and guided his ball past the flailing David Ospina. Kane was very satisfied after the match and said the public made the team better. Spurs played their football with pressing, quick passes transmission and good defending. Mauricio Pochettino, the coach said that he can do better and he has a massive potential.

LE HEROS DE TOTTENHAM, HARRY KANE!

Mené 0-1 par Arsenal à la pause, Tottenham a pu compter sur un doublé de Harry Kane pour remporter le derby du nord-est londonien le 175^ème samedi (2-1). Les Spurs ont enchainé une troisième victoire consécutive à White Hart Line et rejoignent ainsi Manchester United à la troisième place du classement, alors que les Gunners s'arrêtent à trois victoires de rang. Les Spurs terminent donc à la troisième place de la premier league ont pris 22 points sur 27 possibles Arsenal pourrait décrocher du Big Four à l'issue de ce week-en si Southampton gagne contre les Queens Park Rangers.

Le Match:

Ce 175ème derby du nord -est de Londres a été explosif, intense, fascinant et plein de suspense. Tottenham n’a pas volé cette victoire,  ils ont dominé Les débats et voir Arsenal mener à la pause ressemblait à un petit hold-up, Tottenham a eu  23 tirs pour 7 tirs cadré  et seulement  huit tirs pour 3 tirs cadrés pour Arsenal. Mais au début du match, c‘était Arsenal avec un mouvement Mené par le trident Attaquant d'Arsenal, amorce par Danny Welbeck , relayé par Olivier Giroud où son tir Complètement dévisse, est devenu une passe et a servi à la limite de hors jeu pour Mesut Özil puis il a conclu, Arsenal avait  rapidement Pris la tête du tableau d'affichage (0-1 , 11ème min ), Troisième buts en Trois matchs pour Mezut Özil depuis le retour à la compétition . Ce sera la seule occasion d'Arsenal à La Première mi-temps. Parce qu'après ce but Arsenal a subi les assauts des Spurs et ils étaient très forts, l'intensité physique y étaient, dans une atmosphère chauffée par le public de White Hart Line. Mais les partenaires d’Harry Kane ont longtemps buté sur David Ospina le gardien. Malgré une petite frayeur à l'épaule gauche en début de match, Ospina a multiplié les parades (5min, 14min, et 30min) pendant la première mi-temps

Ospina était invaincu pendant trois et demi matchs, mais l'invincibilité a pris fin quelques minutes après la reprise. Plein d'opportunisme, Kane a profité d'une mauvaise balle repoussé par le gardien ancien à Nice pour égaliser (1-1, 56e). Ce but n'a pas changé la physionomie du match; Tottenham restait très motivé pour prendre l'avantage. En dehors d'une belle frappe enroulée de Welbeck forçant Hugo Lloris à une belle parade (61e), Arsenal a diminué de façon constante.

Ospina a encore retardé l'échéance (59e), une double parade avec une frappe de Bentaleb à la 63^ème minutes et une autre avec un face à face  avec Kane à la 64^ème minute, avec coup de tête de maître signé Kane, parfaitement servi par Nacer Chadli (2-1, 86^ème minutes). Ce neuvième succès en onze matchs, les Spurs sont allés le chercher avec courage.

L'homme du match: HARRY KANE

Harry Kane se souviendra longtemps de son premier derby du nord-est de Londres. Pur produit du centre de formation de Tottenham, l'attaquant des Spurs a battu presque tout seul Arsenal samedi en ouverture de la 24e journée de Premier League (2-1). Il s’est fendu d’un doublé (56e, 86e) en répondant au but de Mesut Özil (11e). Harry Kane, âgé de 21 ans a marqué ses 11e et 12e buts de la saison, quatre dans les deux derniers matchs et 22 buts toutes compétitions confondus, c’est fantastique pour lui et une grande aide pour Tottenham.

Bien sûr, le sélectionneur de l'équipe nationale d'Angleterre Roy Hodgson était à White Hart Line et a observé les performances de Kane, en très bonne forme et un poison pour la défense de l’équipe adverse. Son premier but était très opportuniste, en arrivant au second poteau pour reprendre après un corner de Dembele.

Son second était venu d’une belle passe de Nacer Chadli ; il a sauté  au-dessus de la défense des Gunners et sa tête n’a laissé aucune chance à David Ospina .

Kane était très satisfait après le match et a rendu hommage au public. Tottenham avec joué avec un pressing très haut, une transmission rapide et une bonne défense. Mauricio Pochettino, l'entraîneur a estimé qu'il pouvait s’améliorer encore et qu’il avait un énorme potentiel.
